About Me

Hi, my name is Jason Eckhart and I'm a full-stack web developer looking to build my portfolio and gain experience with a focus on front-end UI/UX Design.

After being a line cook for ten years, I found myself growing bored with life and frustrated with the service industry. That is when I saw an add on reddit for a web design course at KU. A combination of frustration at my job, the hunger of knowledge, and the dissatisfaction of my previous school performance motivated me to turn a new page and enroll.

While shifting from the food service industry to the tech industry may seem like an odd move, I believe working in kitchens for nearly a decade has given me unique traits that will be hard to find in most developers

Deadlines which are measured in minutes, not hours; Communicating with fellow cooks to bring a dish together; Following strict health and safety codes. What may seem like a recipe for stress, working in such conditions has provided me with great attributes. My references would say I am an open communicator, quick-learner, cool-headed, and personable.

Here is a sample of projects I have worked on while I was enrolled at The University of Kansas. I am most proud of MyWatchList and OpenDoor, where myself and small team were given strict deadlines to create a website from scratch.
These next two assignments focus on building and managing databases using MySQL and MongoDB
Other assignments utilized jQuery and Firebase
